WHAT WE DO

As an Academy we train 2 days-a-week when school is in session (Fridays & Saturdays) and 4 days-a-week during vacation. Sessions normally last between 1.5 to 2 hours however on many occasions we continue long into the afternoon. The initial two age groups of the Academy are Under 10’s, and Under 14’s.

 

The Grassroots Football Academy-Liberia is provided for talented individuals who can show their ability and passion to perform as an individual player but also building relationships within their team.

 

The academy promotes getting children off the streets and engaged in team sports that develop team-work, creative flair and confidence. Children that show potential talent will be coached to make most of their talents, giving them an opportunity to succeed as an individual. Training sessions consist of fitness drills, football skill based tasks, teamwork drills and game situations. The two age groups play matches against other local team and participate in local tournaments.

When joining our Academy we provide:

 

  • Training throughout the year during school term time (including half-term)

  • A ball for each player to train with

  • 12 children to 1 coach ratio for our nursery and reception age groups (7-10 yrs)

  • 16 children to 1 coach ratio for our year 11 to year 15 age groups

  • Sessions that are pre-organized and ready before the children arrive

  • Coaches who are at least FA qualified

  • Coaches with Full Enhanced CRB (CRC), Emergency Aid & Safeguarding Children certificates

  • All required equipment

  • An age & ability appropriate curriculum, providing a future development pathway for all children

Grassroots Football Academy Contracts & Registrations

The registration process is an important part of youth development pathway. It commits you (the player) to the academy and the academy to you and dictates the next few years of your football. So assess the all areas of the academy and be sure it’s the best place for you.

GFA-Liberia system has 3 different phases based on age groups. During each of this phases you will need to register and commit to your academy. These are different phases:

  • Foundation Phase takes place when a player is Under 9s – Under 11’

  • Youth Development Phase takes place when a player is Under 12’s – Under 16’s

  • The final phase of the academy system is the Professional Development phase and takes place when a player is Under 17’s – Under 21’s
